Spotify Lossless streaming being trialled now.

Hard to tell.

One thing I'm pretty confident about: not without a major effort from
the community. Both Triode's implementation (and its descendents) as
well as the Radio/Touch firmware are using libspotify. This is a library
Spotify has deprecated years ago. I would bet it will not be able to
play those streams.

Which means we'd need something new. Now here's the problem: Spotify
wants you all-in. You want Spotify playback? You need a "Spotify
Connect" implementation. You want to control Spotify Connect? You need
Spotify's application. There's no official API or library to control
Spotify Connect.

Which leaves you with some reverse-engineered open source solution - if
you're lucky.

How to reduce scanning time

> How can I speed up the scanning?

Others mentioned 7.9 and the memory tweaking. Definitely worth a try.

But then we'd need to know the actual bottleneck: what kind of
connection are you using between your computer and the NAS? Don't use
wireless. Gigabit ethernet would be best.

LMS nightly crashes

Logitech Media Server Version: 7.9.0 - 1487582706 crashes when listening to dynamic playlists. If you press pause, the server crashes. This has happened 3 times now. It had not happened before this latest update, but I had not been using the dynamic playlists for a while. No lopg messages.
I am running my server on OpenSUSE LEAP 42.2
And I am on hard-wired ethernet, so its not a wifi issue. The server GUI is dead too.

Apple Music AAC

I have been trying to follow and install various plugins, but realizing I may have missed the boat...
I have had my Squeezebox three for a number of years, but I have recently subscribed to Apple Music and some of the files have been replaced with Apple Music AAC files.

I was hoping not to have to do any conversions of files (or go back to my backup), but have noticed that the LMS 7.9 (Mac OS X 10.12.2) does not recognize these files when scanning my iTunes Library...
Is there any info, docs, etc.. on this? Or links to other threads on this subject. Just not sure how to proceed.

Thanks and I apologize if this has been addressed 1000 times, I just cannot find the right right info to move forward

LMS on Qnap HS210 issues

I'm running LMS 7.7.2 on my Qnap HS210 but it's already long time that is giving me troubles. Basically the Duet receiver cannot connect to the server anymore even if from the Qnap control panel seems that LMS is running. Strangely LMS is not reachable if I click on the relative icon (ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED).
Where can i find an updated and reliable LMS to install on my nas? There is any other solution or I have to change the NAS/Squeezebox?
Thanks in advance for your help.
Cheers

NPR Live stream

Hi - I wonder if anyone can assist with a problem I have. Recently my National Public Radio favourite stopped working. I searched for the new live stream and added (TuneIn) and it failed to play. It does play on the PC. So I got the link from the NPR site, but the same problem. I am using a Raspberry Pi, with SSL support. The error is as shown below - any ideas?

LMS 7.8 lame process using a lot of CPU on QNAP 219

Are there performance benefits to updating to 7.9? I heard this isn't a straight forward process.
My player keeps dropping out (music stops and starts)
Plus any improvements on the touch wifi buffering would be useful.

I get these messages about once per week. I have to uninstall LMS and reinstall to get my apps to work again.
If this happens, none of my apps show on LMS or on my SBT homepage until I have gone through the uninstall process.
I have about 15,000 lossless music tracks so installation is a PITA!

Any suggestions?

volume control transporter before or after custom-convert.conf?

Hello guys,

I am using an upsampling sox rule in my custom-convert.conf , in this rule I am attenuating 3 dB to avoid clipping during upsampling.

Now I am wondering, which happens first: volume control on transporter and then processing in custom-convert.conf or does volume control occur after processing in custom-convert.conf? Is it done in hardware (in transporter) or in software (LMS) ?

Best regards,

Ronald

Playlist edit command is slower then playlist add command with large playlists

I haven't done any deeper investigation, but I think the main difference
is that commands dealing with the play queue ("now playing playlist")
have been optimized for performance, as they are being used all the
time. Modifying stored playlists otoh is a feature hardly anyone uses,
in particular not with larger playlists. Simply because editing
playlists in LMS is a pain to do. Therefore this code hasn't seen much
of optimization. As pippin mentioned there's a reason why playlists are
limited to 500 items by default...

Looking at the code I see that the edit commands still use the database
ORM layer on top of the database. This has been mostly replaced for the
play queue related commands for performance reasons.

Length restriction on tags or file paths?

I'd rather think it's a problem with those special characters than path
length. And doesn't the file have an extension?

Restart now Restart Later loop

Recently upgraded to MacOS Sierra from OSX El Capitan. Not sure if my issue is related to the upgrade but I have been trying to enable the Spotify Protocol Handler. Keep being asked to Restart Now Restart Later and Plugin does not appear as an Active Plugin on each restart and the loop starts again. Also the Plugin is missing from the 3rd Party section. Philippe's repository is installed. Scanned the forum for similar issues but could not find any. Has anybody else come across this?

I guess you're talking about the web UI? Just force-reload it to make
sure it's rendering the latest code.

Remove volume control for fixed volume sources

$

Hi!

I have a transporter hooked to my A/V Receiver and a piCorePlayer,Hifiberry hooked to a couple of active speakers. On both I'v set the output to 100% fixed for the obvious reason that I want to control volume on the A/V or speakers.
Yet, the volume bar is displayed in the LMS main window.

So I guess this is a feature request:
On fixed output volume sources remove the volume control on the LMS main window.

24/96 FLAC files streamed directly to Transporter not working properly

$

I recently downloaded some 24/96 FLAC files that I intended to play through my Logitech Transporter. I have a couple other Squeezeboxes, as well.

Initially I got sound, although the DAC reported 48 khz, rather than 96 khz. Logitech Media Server correctly identified the files as 24/96, but the currently playing file showed "converted to 705 kbps FLAC".

Then I realized that the Transporter was synchronized with the other Squeezeboxes in the house, and I thought that perhaps LMS was downsampling to the least common denominator. I know that the Transporter can handle 24/96 input, so I disconnected the synchronization. Now I don't get any sound through the system connected to the Transporter with 24/96 files, but it works fine with 16/44 files.

What do I need to do to get this working properly?

Thanks in advance for any assistance!

Michael

LMS Update Procedure

Logitech Media Server 7.9 is out!

$

Almost exactly three years after the last release 7.8.0 I'm happy to say that 7.9.0 is ready to go. It's been a long time in the works. But it's been worth the wait. LMS 7.9.0 comes with lots of improvements, both under the hood as well as right there in your preferred user interface:

More flexible access to your beloved music collection:
  • Customizable browse modes
  • Direct access to other source (LMS or UPnP)
  • Playback of local tunes without adding them to the library
  • Filtered views

User interface improvements:
  • * Fast live search in the web UI
    * Full text search: type the track name, find the album(s) it's on etc.
    * Play music which is not on your LMS system by dragging the music files to the web UI

Scanner improvements
  • Allow browsing your music folder while the scanner is running
  • Don't stop the music when running a full wipe & rescan
  • Increased scanning speed, in particular with larger collections

Miscellaneous improvements
  • "Don't Stop The Music": automatically continue the music listening when your playlist comes to an end
  • Improved support for streaming from https resources
  • Improved overall performances
  • Tons of bug fixes

Please get the full list of improvements in the changelog.

You'll find the installers for various platforms in http://downloads.slimdevices.com/Log...Server_v7.9.0/.

Be prepared for a full wipe & rescan being triggered right after the installation if you're coming from a version 7.8 or older. 7.9.0 introduces a few changes which unfortunately require this step.

Please note that LMS 7.9.0 is not officially supported by Logitech. If you encounter any problem, then please come to this forum, and the community will help you out.

Have fun!

YouTube plugin disappeared

Hi guys,

I'm running the latest version of the nightly beta (Logitech Media Server Version: 7.9.0 - 1487582706 @ Mon Feb 20 09:44:51 UTC 2017).

Ever since the last (or second to last maybe) update, I've lost my YouTube plugin menu from 'My Apps' on the web interface.

Does anyone know if this is a known issue, or how easy it would be to roll back to a previous version?

I'm running LMS on a raspberry pi, if that makes any difference.

Thanks,

Chris

Correct. But this kind of failure would be logged in server.log. Did you
check it?
