Mp3 stream bitrate limiting

$
0
0
I'm trying to have lms (squeezeserver on a Raspi) take an mp3 webstream and output to a lower bandwidth stream. For some reason, the same stream sometimes correctly gets routed via Lame.and other times doesn't. The error in the logs makes it seem that it can't find a matching converter that supports url streaming (R) .

Any ideas where to go with this?

Also, is there a way to do 32 bit output, like lame supports?

Thanks

LMS keeps stopping

For the last week or so my LMS 7.9 keeps randomly stopping. I have updated top the latest release to no avail. Seems to happen whilst listening to either internet radio or Random Play from my music server. The errors seem to be to do with accessing some remote server (bitsmitter.com). Any suggestions what I can do to stop it as the whole system is becoming unusable. Server log attached.

Unresponsive LMS

Started a few days ago (it not the first time it happens, but this time it is super irritating so I've decided to try to investigate the problem properly) my LMS system become totally unresponsive. Playback of a track (local, remote does not matter) will most often not start or take 30s to start and the service log file is full of sequences like that

I know it sounds like a network issue, but my network works perfectly fine. I have many devices, I can stream netflix, download at fast speed, copy large files from various computer all good, not sudden pause of connection. This is LMS 7.7.5 on Win7. I did not change anything in my network config and again, it works absolutely fine,whether I copy files, stream HD video or do video conf, wired or wireless.

Any idea?

Thanks

Getting app to work in LMS

Guys, many thanks for the add.

Very new to this stuff. Last week I set up a RPI running Ipcore/LMS. Managed to get things set up fine and had the Tidal app running and playing fine in LMS. I then got too cocky and started messing with settings in ipcore trying to set up another DAC.

Messed everything up completely.

So today I flashed a new card, all seems stable. My problem now though is I can't get the Tidal app to show in my "home page" under my apps in LMS.

When I click on apps and tidal sure enough I've installed it and signed on but it just won't appear in my apps on the home screen. I'm missing a trick here obviously. Can't for the life of me remember how I did it last week.

Many thanks for any pointers lads. Appreciated.

No songs or streams playing (but all connected ok)

hi All,

Frustrating new dillemma:

3 x players (radio, classic, Trans2)
7.9.0 installed on linux mint

Was all working fine a week ago.

Symptoms:

When choosing a song or stream (on any player, MSB.com or LMS), the track appears to be playing on the server (via gui) but there is no sound or time count, (or other clues of music playing).

yes, I have checked amp, speakers, etc etc!

Log is also weird,

1675 error while retrieving mysqueezebox.com/api/myapps/v1 (but im not trying to retrieve it..) - any time i try to play a new track
443 request not dispatchable - occasionally

Many thanks in advance as always

Lots of errors on server log

Hi,
Very sorry for cross-posting, I already posted this http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?107004-Dynamic-Playlists-plugin-not-showing-my-own-playlists-on-RPi.
I'm trying to have a fully functional LMS on RPi and I have some problems: my own dynamic playlists are not working, I'm trying to use MusicIP on raspberry with some problems too and it's sometimes very slow. After some reflection, I think have too many strange errors in the server log, so maybe it's the source of my problems, and not the plugins.
I attach the server.log.

Thanks a lot

[Howto] play Ogg Opus files

$
0
0
Since I recently came across some music in the Ogg Opus format, I looked into playing it with LMS.
The main issue is that the library LMS uses to read audio metadata (AudioScan) doesn't support Opus. I did, however, find a forked version which does.
As this one hasn't been updated in a while, I decided to merge the Opus support into the current AudioScan.

Attached you will find a patch for AudioScan enabling Opus support (credit goes to the original author linked above), plus some support files for LMS.

Instructions
Install the Opus libraries and sox with the Opus codec enabled. Most likely, your distribution will have it packaged already (e.g. libopus, libopus-dev, opus-tools, sox in Debian)
Note: if your sox version doesn't support Opus (check with sox -h), you can compile it yourself or use opusdec instead. However, you will lose the ability to seek in a track when using opusdec.

Download the attached zip and build the module:
Code:

mkdir build; cd build
wget https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Logitech/slimserver-vendor/public/7.9/CPAN/buildme.sh
wget http://search.cpan.org/CPAN/authors/id/A/AG/AGRUNDMA/Audio-Scan-0.96.tar.gz
wget https://github.com/Logitech/slimserver-vendor/raw/public/7.9/CPAN/Sub-Uplevel-0.22.tar.gz
wget https://github.com/Logitech/slimserver-vendor/raw/public/7.9/CPAN/Test-Warn-0.23.tar.gz
wget https://github.com/Logitech/slimserver-vendor/raw/public/7.9/CPAN/Tree-DAG_Node-1.06.tar.gz

unzip lmsopus-alpha.zip

tar xzf Audio-Scan-0.96.tar.gz
cd Audio-Scan-0.96
patch -p1 < ../Audio-Scan-0.96.opus.patch
cd ..
mv Audio-Scan-0.96.tar.gz Audio-Scan-0.96.orig.tar.gz
tar czf Audio-Scan-0.96.tar.gz Audio-Scan-0.96
chmod +x buildme.sh
./buildme.sh Audio::Scan

If the build was successful, you'll find the perl modules in
Code:

./build/arch/<perl version>/<architecture>
e.g. for perl 5.24 on Linux 64bit:
Code:

build/arch/5.24/x86_64-linux-thread-multi
copy the content of the build/arch directory to your LMS installation's CPAN/arch folder
e.g. if your LMS is in opt/logitechmediaserver-7.8-0-noCPAN, the full final path will be
Code:

/opt/logitechmediaserver-7.8-0-noCPAN/CPAN/arch/5.24/x86_64-linux-thread-multi/auto/Audio
...

In your LMS installation, edit Slim/Formats.pm and add the format:
Code:

        'ogf' => 'Slim::Formats::OggFLAC',
        'ops' => 'Slim::Formats::OggOpus',  # add this line

and finally copy OggOpus.pm to your LMS installation's Slim/Formats folder

This takes care of the metadata part. To actually be able to play it, add this line to your custom-types.conf:
Code:

ops        opus        audio/ogg        audio
and modify your custom-convert.conf.

For sox with opus:

Code:

ops mp3 * *
        # IFB:{BITRATE=--abr %B}D:{RESAMPLE=--resample %D}
        [sox] -q -t opus $FILE$ -t wav - | [lame] --silent -q $QUALITY$ $RESAMPLE$ $BITRATE$ - -

ops ops * *
        -

ops aif * *
        [sox] -q -t opus $FILE$ -t raw -r 44100 -c 2 -2 -s $-x$ -

ops pcm * *
        [sox] -q -t opus $FILE$ -t raw -r 44100 -c 2 -2 -s -

ops flc * *
        # IFRD:{RESAMPLE=-r %d}T:{START=trim %s}
        [sox] -t opus $FILE$ -t flac -C 0 $RESAMPLE$ - $START$

For opusdec:
Code:

ops mp3 * *
        [opusdec] --quiet $FILE$ --force-wav - | [lame] --silent -q $QUALITY$ $RESAMPLE$ $BITRATE$ - -

ops ops * *
        -

ops pcm * *
        [opusdec] --quiet --rate 44100 $FILE$ -

ops flc * *
        [opusdec] --quiet --force-wav $FILE$ - | [sox] -q -t wav - -t flac -C 0 $RESAMPLE$ -

Kinda new with LMS, can someone explain to me the following:

This command works on the command line: sox -V6 thriller.flac -t wav -r 44.1k -b 16 thriller_16_441.wav and convert a 88.2kHz, 24 bit file to wav format 16bit, 44.1kHz.

I try custom-convert.conf file like:
flc pcm * *
# FT:{START=--skip=%t}U:{END=--until=%v}D:{RESAMPLE=-r %d}
[sox] $FILE$ -t raw -r 44.1k -b 16 -c 2 -s -L -

and it works well with flac upto 44.1/16 resulting in a PCM 1411 kbps file but when I get to 88.1 or 96kHz the command returns a PCM stream of 4233 kbps and it of course sounds like the chipmunks.

Essentially it looks like resampling is not working with the hires flac files.

Any input would be appreciated.

Good point. Will try to keep this in mind.

The web UI wouldn't show that message?

It depends: when dealing with an account which doesn't have any genuine
SB, then the polling interval is longer. Login should still happen. The
reason being that the polling initially was to sync states between LMS
and mysb. But if you don't own a player which can connect to mysb.com
directly, then this isn't really important.

Windows 10 / Chrome strangeness

$

I had a search but couldn't see any other reports of this.

On my Windows 10 PC, the left pane of LMS does not display a scroll bar, e.g. when an artist has a lot of albums to display. Also, the Save, Play and Add to Current Playlist 'buttons' are inactive - the More one works though. Not sure when this started happening, but it used to be OK.

All is fine if I use Microsoft Edge. Everything is also fine if I use Chrome on Windows 7.

Is it just me?

Sorry, this post is just one of those random ones, but things have moved on so much.

I have to take my LMS hosting laptop to work as I need the bandwidth to sync/backup my music collection to Amazon Cloud Drive (moving from OneDrive) but I still needed a local server for at least on-line radio in the house.

I started fretting about leaving a desktop PC on and installing LMS and all that. Then "lightbulb!" ... I have a Raspberry Pi 3 doing CCTV recording... and voila, there's a Debian ARM package, wget ..., dpkg -i ..., web access, done.

That is a lot simpler and quicker than it was few years ago, and my RPi3 is now doing even more than it used to for very little cost.

LMS 7.9 doesn't start anymore

Hi all,

I don't know why but with the last LMS version (7.9.0 r1487582706) the server doesn't start anymore. Nor automatically (like it used to) nor manually (even with admin rights).

It worked perfectly fine just a couple of days ago.
I'm on Win 7 64b.

Any suggestion ?
I can't listen any music, it's horrible !! :)

Regards,
Pierre

PS : if it can help, here is the diagnostic tab in the LMS control panel :

port 9000 (http) : failure
port 9090 (cli) : failure

Hi,
I've run into some trouble here and can't figure out how to solve it.
Brief overview of events:
-I had LMS version v7.9.0, 0.126.20160422git1461319207 running on a Fedora 23 box.
-The media files were nfs mounted from another machine serving as a NAS.
-Power supply of NAS crashed.
-Initially LMS kept running and as I was only running some radio stations on several raspberries running Max2play, I didn't realize the trouble ahead.
-At one point in time (I don't know what really happened) I couldn't connect anymore to the web interface.
-It was then that I realized the nfs mounts were gone. Since the power supply replacement was going to take some time, I decided to modify the server.prefs and let the media directory point to another (empty) directory on the on the F23 box, thinking that would be enough for the server to start and let me listen to some radio stations.
-Restarted the squeezebox.service but could not connect to the web interface. (firewall disabled)

lsof -Pnl +M -i4 gives the following:

Code:

What is there on port 1900? Note that this is a machine with two network interfaces which are bonded.

I then tried to turn on debug logging but only found some outdated doc on how to do this. Reading through the forum I found out that now there is a --debug argument which needs to be followed by a category, but these categories are nowhere to be found if you don't have a running LMS...

I modified the squeezboxserver service file to the following:
Code:

SQUEEZEBOX_USER="squeezeboxserver"
SQUEEZEBOX_HOME="/usr/libexec"
SQUEEZEBOX_CFG_DIR="/var/lib/squeezeboxserver/prefs"
SQUEEZEBOX_LOG_DIR="/var/log/squeezeboxserver"
SQUEEZEBOX_CACHE_DIR="/var/lib/squeezeboxserver/cache"
SQUEEZEBOX_CHARSET="utf8"
SQUEEZEBOX_PID_FILE="/var/run/squeezeboxserver/squeezeboxserver.pid"
SQUEEZEBOX_OPTIONS="--localfile  --logfile=syslog --logging=all --debug server.plugins=DEBUG"

but that didn't do much.
Running systemctl stop squeezeboxserver.service takes a very long time, and I usually end up killing the squeezeboxserver processes instead...

This is the output of systemctl status squeezeboxserver.service:
Code:

Switching between HD ans SD Tracks - No audio

Hello everybody.

I'm running Daphile with lms 7.9 and a Marantz DAC/Amplifier PM7005. The problem I'm experiencing seems a bit strange to me...The test case is the following:
I make a playlist with two songs. Song A is an HD song (96/24), song B is a SD song (44.1/16).
Now, if I play song A first, Song B will be played but no audio comes out from the amplifier. If I play Song B first, Song A will be played and the audio comes out of the amplifier as it should be.
In the first case (no audio from the amplifier) I have to manually switch off/on the player from the lms interface and the audio starts to come out.

Can anyone give me a hint or a suggestion to solve the problem?

Many Thanks,
Giuseppe

How to get the scan to put all albums under one instance of an artist

I keep getting two entries for Bartók, Béla. They are spelled identically, with no extra spaces. About half of my albums tagged with Bartók, Béla are in one entry, the rest are in the other. Clearing the database and doing a full rescan does not help. My server is on OpenSUSE Leap 42.1.

That's the one from the 3rd party section, I assume.

How so? --nomysqueezebox?

That's because you've disabled mysb.com. That's fine.

But what about the media folders in the basic settings? Is anything
activated for pictures and/or videos?

That would probably be worth mentioning in the pCP discussion.

I think my recent builds of Image::Scale came without support for GIF files.

That said, none of this should have any impact on the plugin installer.
Except probably for the time stamp? Hmm... Can you try to set the time
correctly, then restart LMS?

LMS 7.9.0 Stopping After Alarm Triggers and other issues

Hi

I've had this issue before where an alarm being triggered shuts down the LMS server. This was found to be caused by a number of 3rd party plugins that were enabled from an earlier install.

But this issue has returned in 7.9.0. Trouble is I can't actually get to see what plugins are enabled as the 'Advanced Settings' option from the control panel doesn't work either now. I just get a blank page in Edge and IE11 from the link shown in the address bar...

http://127.0.0.1:9000/settings/index.html

Nor can I access that link from another machine on the same network using the physical servers static IP, so...

http://192.168.1.33:9000/settings/index.html

In addition, when 7.9.0 installed it once again got confused about the settings it should have for those folders and files it should index Vs what was installed in the Web UI. BTW, at point of install I could see the Advanced Settings. So the Control Panel just had Z:\music but the web UI had Z:\Music and Z:\Pictures and the other one I can't remember with all three file types selected for each folder. So when I asked it to re-index it started capturing all sorts of stuff I don't want LMS to be handling. Why is there this apparent disconnect between the settings in the Control Panel and those in the Web UI?

Log files attached and zipped.

Many thanks.
