Could anyone recommend their favorite streaming services that are compatable with LMS?

I currently use spotify, and it isn't bad.... But It doesn't compared to how awesome MOG support was.

Music folders stopped being seen by LMS on QNAP TS 219P

Okay, so this is weird...

I'm pretty sure I haven't done anything to cause this, but all the alpabetised folders in my music folder are no longer visible to LMS. I have most of my stuff in folders called a, b, c, etc, and a few extras for classical, various, etc. Those ones with words for names are still seen, but the others have gone. Scanning only finds the stuff in the named folders, just as you'd expect if LMS can't see the rest.

I've upgraded to the latest firmware and LMS 7.8, but only AFTER this stuff started happening, in case it would fix it...

I also tried SSHing into the QNAP and changing from upper case A, B, C to lowercase, as I noticed that the other folders were all lowercase. I'll try anything once... although I've noticed that the left panel on the QNAP File Manager still shows uppercase...

I don't beleve I've changed any permissions or anything else, but it's not working. I deleted the contents of the cache folder. I can't think of anything else to try - please help!

Thanks,
Joe.

This often happens when you embed huge artwork in a music file (> 20MB).
Please check those files.

Which version of LMS is working best on Yosemite?

Then stay away from software. It's never bug-free.

What issues have you been experiencing? All versions of LMS should work
just fine on Mavericks. Yosemite requires 7.7.5 or newer.

7.8.1 probably still is the best bet for you. Unless you can tell us
what failed last time we'll have a hard time figuring out what is/was
wrong on your system.

LMS as a daemon on OS X Yosemite

If you want LMS to be run without anyone being logged in interactively (eg. when the system boots up automatically after an update or power cut), then use the option from the prefpane.

If that's not good enough, then you have to elaborate what problem you try to resolve.

Logitech Media Server 7.7.5 released

$

Logitech Media Server 7.7.5 has been released. This is a minor bug fix release to eliminate some stupid issues introduced in 7.7.4 in the last minute.

  • Can no longer use https resources, due to failure to load support for IO::Socket::SSL.
  • Installing plugins on OSX 10.10 (Yosemite) fails. Add missing Compress::Raw::Zlib.

I guess that's what happens when you can't wait to release code, while at the same time feverishly trying to fix some security issues on the infrastructure...

Hi,

I have updated my server to Debian Wheezy and can't get LMS running.

Some information about my system:
Code:

# lsb_release -a
No LSB modules are available.
Distributor ID:        Debian
Description:        Debian GNU/Linux 7.7 (wheezy)
Release:        7.7
Codename:        wheezy

# uname -r
3.16-0.bpo.2-amd64

# mysql -V
mysql  Ver 15.1 Distrib 10.0.15-MariaDB, for debian-linux-gnu (x86_64) using readline 5.2

# perl -v
This is perl 5, version 14, subversion 2 (v5.14.2) built for x86_64-linux-gnu-thread-multi
(with 89 registered patches, see perl -V for more detail)

# cat /var/lib/squeezeboxserver/prefs/server.prefs | grep db
dbhighmem: 0
dbpassword: password
dbsource: dbi:mysql:database=slimserver
dbtype: MySQL

LMS is trying to start all the time, but there are problems with the DBD::mysql module.
The log (the first few lines):

Any ideas, what I can do to get LMS running?

Scan loses track ids and paths

Hi,

I'm doing some custom play tracking based on track_ids from the LMS database. When I rescan (no wipecache) from the cli I end up with some urls not being found for a given track_id. Artist information etc is found, though.

Are ids supposed to remain the same for unchanged tracks? Or shouldn't I rely on track_id's? If so, on what should I rely?

I'm running 7.7.3 on raspberry pi.

Thanks and Cheers,

I have 7.7.3-023 running on a Synology DS409+ with DSM 4.2-3252

The server crashes very frequently which makes it rather WAF unacceptable, given one has to log into the DSM and restart it.

The error log shows:

Code:

This does not happen with the same files and the server running on my Joggler.

LMS 7.8 or 7.9 with Debian Netinst

$

Hi, I'm trying to install LMS 7.8 or 7.9 on a dedicated PC.
Squeezelite instances will be used on remote computers e.g. Daphile or piCorePlayer on Raspberry.

I want the underlying OS to be as small as possible to limit software jitter.
For that purpose, I've used Debian 7.7 Netinst (64-bit) to keep packages to a bear minimum: no GUI for instance!
LMS was installed successfully and is able to communicate with a remote Squeezelite.
Administration on port 9000 from a Web browser is working great too.

However, when I'm trying to play a track, the latter is being queued and LMS starts it for 1 or 2 seconds (no sound) and then stops.
At this point, SqueezeServer processes and related daemons are still active.

I know for sure Squeezelite is working well as I can stream music from another instance of LMS on a Mac.

What am I missing or doing wrong from Debian?
Are there any software dependencies that should be satisfied or installed prior installing LMS?!

Thanks a lot ;-)

Issues with LMS and SB3

I have been using an SB3 (Classic) for over five years with no problems. The Squeezebox server runs on a NAS box. Everything was find until I recently upgraded the Squeezebox server to the latest available for my NAS box (7.7.2). (I know, I hear you shouting "why upgrade if everything is working?!" - well I know, it was a mistake, but that is why I am asking for help here).

Soon after that, I started having issues with rebuffering, with the SB3 not responding properly to commands, with menus first not scrolling and then scrolling many items at a time, having to reset the SB3 by pulling the power...

I though this must be due to the upgrade so I tried uninstalling and reinstalling - no difference. Then my SB3 died alltogether. I tested the PSU - 5V. I took the unit apart and reseated the WiFi card. No joy. I then tested the voltage of the PSU under load - fluctuated between 1.5 and 5 V so I decided to buy a new one.

Now with a new PSU, the SB3 works again, but I still have the issues with rebuffering. I have tried both a factory reset of the SB3 and of the Xilinx chip - no difference.
I figure that I could have a couple of different issues:
1. It could be the WiFi card is not feeling well.
2. It could be that I need to downgrade to an older version of the Squeezecenter. (I have 7.6.1 and 7.5.4)
3. It could be both...

Before I spend significant time experimenting I thought I would ask for some advice here. Any ideas what might be the issue? Where should I start? If I do downgrade, can I take the favorites file from the 7.7.2 installation and copy it onto a downgraded version?

OK I've invested in a Squeezebox Touch for high quality audio - now what?

I've bought a second hand SBT - are Logitech still providing updates for it?

I will be using it as a high quality but versatile transport into an Arcam irDAC.

More LMS Issues

OK -- I have had squeezeboxes for several years - generally without problems. I currently have a Classic V3 and a Radio. The classic is wired while the radio is wi-fi. It seems since the last LMS upgrade that LMS is losing contact with either the V3 or Both the V3 and the radio. Network check shows both are connected and active, and LMS reports all is well but web control will not contact the player or players. Rebootiing the computer solves the problem for a day or so, but then contact is dropped again to one or both of the players. I am currently running 7.7.5 -- I think 7.7.4 also had the problem. Should I try 7.8? Other suggestions welcome.
