LMS 7.9 not working and not stopping

I have had LMS for ages and have been running 7.9 for several weeks with no problems on an old XP box. Overnight, the LMS server decided to stop, so I restarted it, but was not able to connect to it. The diagnostics showed port 9000 as OK. So I decided to stop it and do a clean up. Try as I might, it would not stop. Rebooted and tried again - same result. Downloaded the latest nightly - still the same: diagnostics OK, can't access it, nothing on the information tab, can't stop it.

Looked at the diagnostics again - this time it fails port 9000 and says "Logitech Media Server is running but can't be contacted on port 9000.The following applications might be blocking your connection:"
Turned the firewall off - no effect.
Used the cmd netstat -nb and there were a whole load of listings for squeezesvr.exe on port 9000 with "CLOSE_WAIT"
Killed the process and restarted, this time hitting the run cleanup button just as the server was starting. This seemed to stop the server so that I could run the cleanup and restart in safe mode.
This started the scanner which ran for a while but then aborted.
The server still seemed to be running OK, though.
Stopped it (successfully this time) and restarted, removing safe mode.
Now seems to be running OK (and for the first time is displaying properly in the information tab).

Hi, I'd like to be able to create and edit a playlist in an editor and then import it into LMS. What is the file format/structure of an LMS playlist?

What happened to the DLNA server?

I used the DLNA server in LMS 7.7 quite successfully, it worked better than any of the others I had at the time. I'm now running LMS 7.8 (on WHS V1) and I can't find any trace of the DLNA server. What happened to it? I seem to recall it was a plugin, but I can't even find it in the plugins list to re-install. There is an option in Advanced Settings -> Network for LMS as a client to look for other DLNA servers, but that's the opposite way round to what I want (and it is disabled). My Oppo 95 Blu Ray used to play video files from LMS 7.7 very well, and now it can't even see LMS as a server.

just one file, tags not being seen

Second file shows up with album/artist as per tags.

First file always shows with artist "Costello, Elvis" and hence does not get grouped correctly.

And it gets odder - I renamed the containing directory and did a rescan (new and changed).

Now the first file takes its album name from the new directory name!

What is going on?

Finding player in web user interface

My squeezebox has stopped showing up automatically in the web user interface. It can still be seen there if I connect to squeezebox server and select it on the player itself but it doesn't appear as an option under "choose player" after start up. Is there any way I can restore the option to find the player in the web user interface without first switching to squeezebox server on the SB itself?

Sirius app stops playing under LMS

I use a number of capabilities through Squeezebox including My Music, Pandora, TuneIn and SiriusXM. Of all of those the SiriusXM app seems to have an issue where after a while it stops playing. When it starts I see under play details the number of minutes played and then at some point it stops and that counter is reset to 0. I can start playing it again and it resumes. Any idea why this stream wouldn't have a retry associated with it and attempt to restart the play?

Music streaming

Hi guys,
I would like to listen to my music when at work, using the LMS streaming http://lms_ip:9000/stream.mp3. I tried with VLC.
Unfortunately, it seems that the firewall of the company I work for is blocking any URL having "mp3" in the name.
Is there a simple way of changing that name or do you have an idea of a workaround ?
I tried to use squeezelite and squeezeslave, but they cannot connect to the server neither.
I'm thinking of an url redirection, with a local apache server, like
url http://lms_ip:9000/mystream will redirect to http://localhost:9000/stream.mp3
but I don't know if it could work and I never had to setup an apache server, so it may take me some time.

Problem streaming ALAC files

Hi

I'm new to LMS and have it running on my HP N40L Ubuntu server running as a NAS.

I've got a few Raspberry Pis running Squeezeplug as clients.

My setup is currently working well for MP3 and FLAC. I've converted a few FLACs to ALACs so I can use iTunes on my desktop as well.

I have followed the instructions on the WIKI and setup alac-decoder and mplayer.

My convert.conf looks like this:

Logitech Media Server 7.7.4 released

Logitech Media Server 7.7.4 has officially been released. This is mostly a compatibility update with a few more bug fixes.

Major changes:
  • Add support for OSX 10.10 / Yosemite
  • Fix compatibility with MSIE 11

Playing .FLV Streams On Squeezebox: Revisited

The last time I asked this question was probably 4-5 years ago and there was really no way to stream .FLV streams from web players, other than the "Wav_Input" plugin which is quite a lot of work to play these streams. Is there any new, easier way to play an .FLV stream on a Squeezebox? I admit that I don't visit the forum as much as I used to, but I did do a cursory search and couldn't find any recent discussions.

With many of the old streams that I have bookmarked in the player the last 5 years or so have been changing over to Flash streams (so that they can make money off of display ads), many of my good, old streams are becoming extinct. I have tried URLHelper on all of these streams and all but one are .FLV streams, which last I checked cannot be played on SB. Are there any new workarounds? I noticed there is a newish plugin called "DSBridge'" but I cannot determine if that will work or if that is only to play Spotify.

Can't find where LMS is storing its playlists in Video Storm Netplay device

If anyone is using a Video Storm NetPlay device with embedded LMS, I am trying to figure out where playlists are being stored. I am pointing My Music to a NAS drive and have my music pointing to the NAS at /mnt/samba/Shared Music and I have playlists pointing to /mnt/samba/Playlists. Yet when I create playlists and add music and can play them, I never see the playlists show up in the /mnt/samba/Playlists folder. I am setting those preferences on the LMS Basic Settings page.

Any idea where else those playlists would end up being stored?

Did you run a scan after you configured LMS to use iTunes? How long did
the iTunes part of the scan take (if it was run)? Check
Settings/Information in the web UI.

When you run a scan, LMS would read the iTunes library, importing track
and playlist information, and providing access to them through LMS.

How do you edit existing playlists using extGUI4LMS?

I like the capabilities that the extGUI4LMS plug-in adds to LMS for ease of playlist creation but once I create a playlist I don't see a way to open up the contents of an existing playlist and edit its contents. It seems like the contents in the right pane is always the now playing list. Is there a way to show the contents of a playlist and add or delete songs?

How can I get more Random?

In using Random Mix by Album or Artist I almost always wind up having numerous instances of the same Album/Artist or the same Artist lined up to play. Is there something I’ve done wrong, or is there anything I can do to overcome this?

I’ve checked the spelling and tags and there is nothing obvious that would distinguish these items as being different, but rather they are identical where they should be.

Stats: Win 8.1, LMS 7.8.1-1408670219, 1113 tracks, 504 albums, 257 artists. Scan time is fine, with no issues.

Problem upgrading to the latest LMS 7.7.4

Hi,

wonder if anyone can help with this.
Got the message this morning to upgrade to the latest LMS release.
I have an old WHS running Windows Server 2003. It runs fine though and generally doesn't cause any problems.

When I tried to upgrade the version of LMS The install repeatedly stops after saying that it cannot connect to "my.squeezebox.com" on port 3483.
the final error message given has an Error code of "1603".

I have checked windows firewall, and Port 3483 is already included (both TCP & UDP) to allow traffic.

I am a little stumped now, so any assistance would be appreciated.

LMS 7.8.1 on QNAP TS219 - error

Hi,

I've been running 7.3.3 on a QNAP TS219 for several years. Today I decided was the day to upgrade to a newer version.

I downloaded 7.4.4 first, and ran the upgrade through SSODS. The software installed correctly, but when trying to start the service I got an error.

I then downloaded and tried 7.8.1, and got the same.

I've tried going back to 7.3.3 but that won't run now either.

The error I get is:

Feature request for random album browsing

Hi all,

I was delighted to find the new random album browsing capability had been added to 7.9. When I first tried it, I was presented with a list of albums, of which there were several from which I wanted to play a partial list of tracks. So I clicked on the first such album, then added several tracks to the "now playing" list. But then, when I pressed the back button on my browser, a new list of random albums was created instead of going back to the original one.

Would it be possible for this list to remain unchanged until I click on "Random Albums" again?

I am running Win7 x64, using Firefox 33.1. I currently work around this by right-clicking on the album and choosing "Open link in new tab" to choose the tracks I want from the newly-opened tab, then closing the tab.

"Plugins have been updated-restart required" won't go away, Triode Spotify plugin MIA

I just upgraded my Mac to Yosemite, and LMS to 7.7.4, and my previously working Triode Spotify plugin stopped working. In my attempt to fix it, I (among other things) unchecked it on the plugins page, and it has now disappeared completely. More troubling, LMS now constantly shows the message "Plugins have been updated - restart required", and whenever I go to the Settings - Plugins page I am immediately hit with the message "Changes will take place at the next application restart. Please click here to restart the server now." Yet stopping and restarting LMS doesn't fix the problem, these messages remain and the Triode plugin remains missing. I even tried adding Triode's repository manually, to the Plugins page, all his apps except for Spotify are showing up. I've also run cleanup to clean the cache folder from "LMS - Advanced" in the Mac's System Preferences (but I didn't click "Delete preference files" as I'm unsure what other damage that might do?) I've rebooted the Mac as well, and have tried reinstalling LMS 7.7.4 (without first deleting it, not sure how to do that or again, what settings I might lose in the process).

The official Spotify plugin is misbehaving too, I can search for music, but as soon as I try to play, my Squeezebox Classic shows the song but no sound comes out, and on the web interface it acts like its playing the first song on an album for 2 seconds then skips to another track way further down the list (this started happening today even before I upgraded my Mac and LMS, so something may have already been corrupted even before the upgrade).

Clearly, something is stuck somewhere relative to plugins, but I don't know what?
