Search function returns incorrect count in LMS 7.9 and 7.9.1

7.9 introduced a feature I often refer to as library views: you can
define to only work on a sub-set of your total collection. Eg. exclude
your kids' music. If you're not familiar with it, then you likely don't
use it ;-).

Same here. At first it looked good, then later on there was some kind of
constant value returned. Server side caching might very well be the
reason. I'll look into this.

Yes, I'd use that for now. It's optimized for search speed, as it's
being used for the web UI's "live search".

Shut down LMS, open the server.prefs in a text editor (NOT Wordpad or
the like!). Then remove the lines for filterHosts, allowedHosts,
authorize, username. Start LMS and set everything as you like.

And don't open your LMS to the internet. It likely will render your
settings obsolete.

Anyone have any ideas on how to have music play when LMS starts?

I have a portable setup on a Pi with Max2Play. It would be nice if I could play a favorite or playlist when it starts.

Thanks,

> Is there a reason why 7.9.1 was released?

Mostly some of the security related changes. Some of you might have
noticed that we did an official 7.7.6 release (3.5 years after 7.7.5!),
too. We wanted those changes to also reach users of the stable versions.

> Any specific plans perhaps
> which are more fitting for a 7.9.2 version?

I would love to tackle even a 7.10 or 8.0. But the ideas/wishes I have
require more man power than I can provide. So we'll currently be stuck
with 7.9.2 and minor improvements.

Web UI - Default skin - "Artist" tab missing from "My Music"

This is really frustrating. I've searched and searched the forum but can't seem to come up with the right search terms.

As stated in the subject the "artist" tab is missing. However, it seems to come and go with LMS version updates. Sometimes I have it - sometimes I don't.

What am I not getting / overlooking?

Thanks

Cannot connect to LMS 7.9.1

My two radios have not been able to connect to mysqueezebox.com for a couple of days. I usually do not use LMS but I downloaded it yesterday hoping to connect to it. I have not been able to connect either radio to LMS 7.9.1

Working with Windows 10. Clearly could be a firewall issue but I don't know where to start attempting to diagnose the problem. One interesting item is even though I cannot connect to mysqueezebox.com, the website shows that the two radios are connected even though both radios show a Red wifi symbol in the lower right corner of the screen. In addition, I am able to utilize the remote control functionality provided on the website to control both radios to a limited extent. Very strange.

Any assistance would be appreciated.

Cannot connect to LMS

Hi

Need some assistance with my setup, it was working fine and out of the blue it started stuttering and now refuses to connect. My knowledge of linux is very basic so please bear with me, I may not be familiar with even simple instructions.

My server is on an Asus Tinkerboard running Armbian. I have a variety of devices - some Windows PCs, a bunch of Raspberry Pis all running some plugin or the other to connect to the server. I have Squeezer to control things on the go and the web interface from the PCs. The Pis are running either Volumio or Moode with the inbuilt plugin.

I had 7.8xxx running well and then the upgrade to 7.9.1 happened (using the instructions on the web interface). It worked okay for a few days, then while running one day it started to stutter and the audio kept cutting out. I restarted all units and now the server will not work. Nothing changed on the network or any of the machines, it just died.

I would really appreciate help troubleshooting this as nothing has helped so far. I manually opened port 9000 in iptables on the server, I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling, increasing the swap file to 1GB and restarting the server a few times. One interesting thing is that it does not read the logs at all. Nano returns an error saying there is no free space on device. I manually increased the swap files and now it simply says "not enough data read" when I try to open it in nano.

"service logitechmediaserver status" shows system as running and active. Manually stopping and starting service has no effect.

Squeezer cannot find an active server on the network

Web interface request 192.168.xxx.xxx:9000 I get error ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED on all browsers, including from an Android tablet running Chrome

Disabling firewall and antivirus on machine requesting web interface access did not help

I have three to four routers set up on the network, one is temporary (used as a repeater). Of the rest, one is the main router and I'm using only the switch functionality of the other two (DHCP disabled, NAT off). The server is connected to the main router over wired GBe. The Pis are all wirelessly connected to one of the slaves - which provides the wireless signal for the whole house.

Not sure if this is too much or too little information. Hope you can help me out.

Can't get server to convert AAC sources to MP3 streams when relaying to players

I've looked at several options, which perhaps I don't understand how to use correctly, but none seem to enable me to play aac stream sources (internet, or even aac files from my libray) to my players that only support mp3.

If I take the same android and use one player, it plays those sources without issue--synchronized or not. If I switch to the other player, it says "unable to play file type" (on the android controller app), and the server says:

[18-04-21 09:27:45.4320] Slim::Player::Song::open (409) Error: Couldn't create command line for aac playback for h**p://ice3*somafm*com/groovesalad-64-aac

Is there a way to accomplish: [AAC internet stream station] ---> AAC---> [LMS] ---> MP3 ---> [Squeezeplayer]

Yes, that's wrong. I wonder why it would use the port there, as afaik we
don't add it to the URL. Could you please upload your full
server.log.zip file to my dropbox?

And could you please all confirm you don't see any warning wrt.

Tidal skips through playlists without playing at all

$

I use tidal HIFI (v. 1.2) in LMS (7.9.1) installed on a Synology (ds411j). Last week it stopped functioning. When i try to play a song it skips through the album without playing.

Installing version 7.9.1 of LMS was one of the things I tried to get Tidal work, another thing is to play through Ickstream, and through mysqueezebox.com as a server. Neither of these things work.

I can play my own flac files from the NAS server as well as internet radio, but no tidal.

Please help.

Stream to LMS?

$

Hi,

Can anyone help me sort out how to stream from my (Xubuntu 18.04) laptop apps to LMS on the RPi, please?

As a complete novice to this type of thing I managed to get LMS up and running to 'power' my synced Raspberry Pi system using Moode & IQaudio

Despite what it says in the link, now I only use LMS installed on a RPi with the music on an external hard disk

What I have never worked out, is how to stream music from my Laptop to the LMS RPi (and hence out to the Moode RPi's)
Mostly I use the RPi LMS to play the music, but sometimes I'd like to use other apps on my Laptop

I worked out how to use pulseaudio-dlna to stream to individual Moode RPi's but I want to use the synchronisation of LMS

Hope that makes sense!

Thanks

Leigh

LMS 7.9 Internet dependency?

My Internet connection was down this morning, and LMS 7.9 would not start. The logs seemed to indicate that something related to Internet Radio could not phone-home, and was effectively hanging the startup process.

Is anyone aware of any badly-behaving plugins that would do this? Does anyone have any tips for avoiding / removing / forbidding any Internet dependency?

I have pruned my plugins-list to disable anything I don't really need, especially things that might want to communicate externally.

LMS on Synology DS918+ not indexing thousands of music files

$

Hello all,

My trusty Acer Aspire H340 would not turn on following a power outage, so I ended up buying a DS918+ last week. I've been running LMS since 2010 when I bought my first SqueezeBox Boom. Lately I had been running it on Ubuntu Server 16.04 on a separate machine, with the files stored on the H340 (which was also running 16.04). The number of music files reported was in the neighbourhood of 50,000 (not piracy; I own a lot of albums and get dozens of albums for review from record labels every week. :))

Since the DS918+ had an LMS package and seemed powerful enough to handle what I need it to do, I turned off the other machine that was running LMS before (an old but relatively powerful Dell). LMS seemed to be running fine (albeit VERY slow at scanning-damn!) until I noticed that only 30,000 songs or so were reported after the scan. I checked that all the files had been copied from my backup (yes). I tried just a rescan, no luck. Clear and rebuild library: Same results. I then fired up the Dell and gave that LMS installation the Synology as the media source. Once the scan completed, it (running on Ubuntu Server 16.04) reported the correct 50,000 or so songs. So, obviously, the problem seems to be only with LMS on the Synology.

I've checked the logs (from the interface) and can't see the scan logs complaining about anything. I thought maybe foreign characters (lots of songs in languages other than English), but none of that is reported. So I'm at a bit of a loss and I'm wondering if anyone here has run into a similar problem and/or could suggest something to look at or some setting that I may have overlooked.

The DS918+ has the stock 4Gb of RAM and resource usage (CPU and RAM) is still pretty low even while scanning, so I don't think that's an issue. It currently has two 4 Tb drives set up with RAID 1, with plenty of space to spare.

Thanks!
Michel

Additional Browse Modes & Folder(s)

I'd posted this several days ago in an older thread without response, so thought I'd ask again here: is there any way to configure this plugin to work other than sorting by genre? (Or are there other options that would allow that?) I have a lot of various artists CDs so many of my albums aren't one genre, and ideally I could just have each separate folder on my server be a view...so I could choose just to look at country, jazz, whatever alone. I am a little surprised that this isn't just built in from the getgo with LMS since I'm sure many of us don't exclusively listen to just a small selection of styles, and it's hard to really wade through my collection to listen if a bluegrass CD from 2007 is sitting right next to a doowop collection from 1954, or whatever, in the album view.

Running LMS with Windows 10 without mysqueezebox.com

I'm now running LMS 7.9.1 under Windows 10 on my PC.

I would like to understand how to run LMS without dependence on mysqueezebox.com

How do I run LMS with the "nosqueezebox parameter"? Is there a set of parameters I can utilize when running the executable file "SqueezeTray.exe"?

Is it actually as simple as running the SqueezeTray.exe executable with the parameter "--nosqueezebox"? What is the correct format?

Sorry for being so dense here but it's an honest question.

Thanks in advance for your assistance!

Hello,

I am looking for a plugin that will allow me to take the line in from a soundcard and allow me to use that as a source.

I have looked at the waveinput and line in plugins and they do not seem to cover this, unless i am missing something.

Server is running on linux.

Raspberry Pi 3 LMS?

I am looking to run files of up to 24/192 using the enhanced digital output app on SBT. I prefer not having to have a PC turned on around the clock to just to stream music so I was opting drop all my files on to an SSD housed in an enclosure plugged in to the SBT's USB port. Unfortunately, my DAC only has space for one digital coax and that is in use, it has 2 toslink optical ports but they accept a max of 24/96. So my other options is to use the USB as an output which would again require me to stream. So how are the raspberry Pi's at running LMS? also, can they power an external SSD?

Ignore Artist/Title/Album/Genre when scrobbling

$

0
I know that recent LMS can be configured to ignore certain tracks for scrobbling purposes - and that the definitions are comma separated lists but can they be regex?

I found the code in Slim/Plugin/AudioScrobbler/Plugin.pm - and I think it does not allow it

Code:

        my @ignoreTitles  = split(/\s*,\s*/, $prefs->get('ignoreTitles'));
        my @ignoreAlbums  = split(/\s*,\s*/, $prefs->get('ignoreAlbums'));
        my @ignoreArtists = split(/\s*,\s*/, $prefs->get('ignoreArtists'));
        my @ignoreGenres  = split(/\s*,\s*/, $prefs->get('ignoreGenres'));

        if ( (scalar @ignoreGenres && $track->genre && grep { $track->genre->name =~ /\Q$_\E/i } @ignoreGenres )
                || (scalar @ignoreTitles && grep { $title =~ /\Q$_\E/i } @ignoreTitles)
                || (scalar @ignoreArtists && grep { ($track->artistName || $meta->{artist} || '') =~ /\Q$_\E/i } @ignoreArtists)
                || (scalar @ignoreAlbums && grep { ($track->albumname || $meta->{album} || '') =~ /\Q$_\E/i } @ignoreAlbums)
        ) {
                main::DEBUGLOG && $log->debug( sprintf("Ignoring %s, it's failing one of the ignored items tests: %s, %s, %s", $title, $track->artistName || $meta->{artist}, $track->albumname || $meta->{album}, ($track->genre ? $track->genre->name : '')) );
                return;
        }

However, I am not an expert on use of \Q and \E and what the contents of $_ is at that point.

Reason:
I have some generated titles that are created by a .cue file that splits up a radio show ... the spoken links have titles in general form of
show name - link number
e.g.
John Smith 2018/02/12 - 1
John Smith 2018/02/12 - 2
Fred 2018/02/12 - 1
Fred 2018/02/12 - 2
etc

and I would love to avoid scrobbling them.
