VPN Question - Connecting to LMS - Netgear Nighthawk Router

Previously I was able to connect to my LMS through VPN on my android phone while I was on 3G, 4G, or another wireless network. I was using a Raspberry pi and "Open VPN for Android" on my Samsung Galaxy. Click on Orange Squeeze, select my server (192.168.n.nnn) and I was set to go.

I recently upgrade my router to a Netgear Nighthawk r7000. I set up VPN on there using my dyndns account. I am able to connect to the files on my LMS server (using file management tools like File Expert) and also 'puTTY' in (using Connectbot), but when I try to access the LMS server page (192.168.n.nnn:9000) on the internet, or through any apps such as Orange Squeeze, I get a "Connection error, unexpected end of stream on connection).

I do not have any ports forwarded on the router.

I understand that there are difference in the Raspberry pi VPN software and the Nighthawk software. I am not sure why the Rpi VPN would connect to LMS and the router VPN won't.

Any assistance would be appreciated - Do I have to make some changes on the router side or the dyndns side, or both?

How to monitor the status of a player

Hi

I have 5 different players on my LMS and I would like to monitor their activity from a network monitor software like nagios or paessler.
I have tried to follow the txt and xml suggestions in tutoriels.domotique-store.fr content 54 95 fr api-logitech-squeezebox-server-_-player-http
but no success.

Can someone help me or point me in the right direction?

A fallback plan would be count the number of player like in wiki.slimdevices.com index.php Logitech_Media_Server_CLI but then I do not know which one is not playing.

Now I know that I'm at the correct versions, and when connected to MySB.com, it says software is up to date.
I don't recall this occurring with 7.9.0

Running LMS on an non-rooted android device

For several years I used an HP Microserver as my media centre and Squeezebox server, but for the last year or so I have mainly used an android box. As a consequence I haven't been switching on my noisy Microserver and so not using my squeezebox. I wanted to use my android box to run LMS but received wisdom seemed to be that this was not possible.

Recently I bought an all-singing and dancing Nvidia Shield TV and my thoughts turned to running LMS on it. In order to keep the ability to use 4k HDR on Amazon TV the box could not be rooted which seemed a bit of a drawback. I wondered whether I could run Linux on an un-rooted android box and then install LMS on that. To cut a long story shortish - the answer is YES!

The answer turns out to be GNURoot which allows Linux to run under a false root. I chose the Debian flavour of GNURoot, then followed the instructions on the Logitech support site for installing LMS on Debian. It all worked perfectly! Posts on the Nvidia Shield support site suggest you must run Plex in order to make your drives available over the network so I followed this advice and LMS was available on port 9001.Name: Capture.jpg Views: 60 Size: 115.0 KB

Not showing on my 'Media Devices'

Hi Folks

A small glitch here...

Everything was running smoothly until yesterday. Although all the Logitech radios play around the house, I can't seem to pick up LMS on my mobile any longer. LMS is also not showing in my list of media devices either on my Windows 10 PC. I'm not too techy with this stuff, but I looked at the server log and it reported:

Squeezebox suddenly starting all songs at 2:56 and no audio comes out

i was running 7.9.0 and things were going smoothly, then suddenly any song i chose (either via remote, the iphone app, or web control panel) would start playing at 2:56 and no sound would come out of my system.

i uninstalled that and installed the latest nightly build (7.9.1), rescanned my library, and the same thing is happening.

any ideas?

Tidal not showing under My Apps

I have been having problems getting Tidal to appear under My Apps on my Linux-based LMS. Tidal is installed and correctly configured in mysqueezebox.com and the plugin shows under Active Plugins.

In the server.log I see:

Squeezebox over VPN

Would a Squeezebox Radio/Boom be able to connect to LMS on a LAN to LAN VPN connection? I'm not sure the device would discover LMS as it would be on a different IP address range. Is there a way to key in the address of LMS manually?

As I'm sing Draytek devices it is possible to reroute traffic from an IP to another IP range

Error message

Hi Folks

Been having a few issues (unusually!) with LMS not appearing as a server on my Win10 network, although all my Radios around the house can play radio stations as well as my MP3 collection. In fact, everything seems to work, except I can't *see* LMS on any PC as a media device. Weird! Occasionally, the icone will re-appear, but then after a reboot, it disappears again. I can also ALWAYS see the tray icon in my system tray, so I'm guessing that the problem isn't that serious! :)

In most other ways, LMS is perfectly well-behaved, but the 'non-appearance' as a server in Win10 means I'm not getting LMS as an option to play my music on say, my android phone or tablet.

I checked the server log today and saw the following 'error'. Can anyone tell me what it actually means, and whether it's likely to be related to LMS appearing/disappearing as an icon in media devices.

Does the fact that it's showing more than once, mean anything other that it's trying, and trying etc?

Cant updpate plug-ins

Wanted to try the latest Spotty plug-in. It appears under Settings | Plug-ins at the top under "Updated Plug-ins available":

1. I select the updated plug-in and press 'Apply' at the bottom right
2. Next a pop-up appears saying 'Changes will take place at the next application restart. Please click here to restart the server now.' And then I'm presented with two options: 'Restart Now' and 'Restart later'
3. 'Restart Now' then pops-up the message "LMS is being restarted. Please wait a minute before you continue. with the option 'OK'
4. Pressing OK nothing happens; i.e the 'updated plugings available' still show and are not enabled.

What am I doing wrong here? I'm running LMS 7.9.1

LMS 7.9.1 can not change tracks on one 192/24 FLAC with cue sheet

Hello,

As 99.9% of my files are 44.1/16 FLACs, I did not discover this problem until I got few 192/24 FLACs. The thing is that I can not change tracks specifically on 192/24 FLAC with cue sheet. It will always play from beginning. The following is the error log:

While playing on 96/24 or 88.2/24 FLACs, there is no problem at all! So far, my solution is to convert FLAC to WAVPACK, but I wish I can play 192/24 FLAC instead of WAVPACK. Is there anyone having this problem? How to solve it? Thanks.

Pre-flight checks before updating to LMS 7.7.5 from 7.7.2 on QNAP TS-112P

Having been on good terms with LMS 7.7.2 running on a low-powered NAS - a QNAP TS-112P, which is ARM-based and (I read somewhere) old by today's standards, I'd like to ask the forum if there are any reasons I should NOT install 7.7.5 (LMS keeps prompting me to update). If it's good to go, should I now use 7.7.6?

I've also been trying to find out whether my NAS is capable of running versions of LMS later than 7.7.5/6, but without really knowing if it would benefit from it. Even if so, I'm a bit put off by reading about issues with things like plugin updates, requiring manual changes in Linux, which I'm not familiar with.

If anything should go wrong with the installation, can I easily revert to 7.7.2?

Thanks in advance for any advice. (I'm also going to post this in the QNAP LMS forum.)

iTunes Home Sharing Enabled causes LMS to shut down?

I recently got an Apple TV 4K and I wanted to display albums from my photo repository in Photos on my Mac Pro. I had long ago disabled the iTunes Home Sharing function (I forget why.) It seems the only way I could get the photos to appear in Apple TV was to enable Home Sharing in iTunes, and that worked. However, after I enabled Home Sharing, I started having Logitech Media Server randomly shut down all by itself. When I look at the server.log I don't see anything obvious. The last entry is something like “Slim::Web::Cometd::handler (422) errorNeedsClient”. I have to go into the Preference Pane and the LMS server starts.
As soon as I turn off Home Sharing in iTunes, my LMS runs fine with no shut downs.
This is unfortunate since I now have two needs which I can't have met at the same time (my music via LMS to Squeezebox, and my photos via Home Sharing to Apple TV.)
I'm hoping someone has a suggestion of something I can do to fix this.
FYI I'm running macOS Sierra, iTunes 12.7.0.166 and LMS 7.9.0 (r1488878280).
I typically keep the defaults in LMS, the only thing I might have done non-default was turn off iTunes Artwork?
I have a rather large library of 23000 tracks.

Cannot access localhost:9000 on new iMac

Hi all, I've been running slimserver for years, firstly on a PC then secondly on an iMac (2009 El Capitan). I've just replaced the old iMac with a nice shiny new one (running Sierra), but now I am having some problems accessing slimserver through the browser.

I downloaded the latest version (UE 10) from the nightly builds folder as SS wasn't working at all and the server wouldn't start. This new software solved this problem and I was able to start SS on the Mac, my Squeezebox classic can now see the Mac but it won't connect to it.

I've tried to navigate to localhost:9000 on the Mac and I have also tried using 192.168.x.x:9000 and that doesn't work either.

I saw a post on here about creating ~library/squeezebox/logs (I think that was it), which I have tried, but it didn't help.

Any ideas what I am missing here? My Mac firewall is off at the moment to ensure it's not blocking anything.

I have installed LMS 7.9.1 on a new Windows 10 laptop. The server is running without any error messages - but my apps (Squeezelite/iPeng/Sonicorbiter) can not "find" the Server on the network.
I am at a total loss at this point since I can't even connect to mysqueeezebox.

I would appreciate any help to get my system back up and running.

Spotty doesn't appear in my plugins

Hi everybody,
First thanks to Mickael for his work on spotty.
I use LMS on a NUC with debian 8 and squeezeboxes radio, I'm also using ipeng and orange squeeze.
Concerning Spotty, everything works well with ipeng and orange squeeze but it doesn't appear in LMS menu web page.... (my apps) ... I tried to reinstall but nothing. I have the same issue with TuneIn
Do you have an idea to make it appear ?
It's LMS 7.9.0.

Not all favorites are displayed in Tidal app

When I go into the Tidal app either from the Web Remote Control or iPeng, not all of my albums are displayed under My Favorites. The alphabetical listing stops in the mid R's. It looks like the Tidal app just quits early. I'm using LMS 7.9.0 and Tidal 1.2 according the the Control Panel. The behavior is the same whether I'm using the Web Remote Control, iPeng or the Squeezebox Touch itself.

I think I know the answer to this one anyway, but ... is there a way to make LMS listen on multiple network interfaces - either physical or virtual. Seems not, but just wondered if there was a clever plugin out there or the like.

Windows 10 1709 is quarantining LMS 7.9.1-1508251793

I upgraded to the new Windows 10 1709 version yesterday and today I tried to update my LMS to the latest October 17th 2017 version but Windows Defender is saying there is a Trojan in the LMS executable and won't install it - anyone else got this problem? Is it safe to install this version of LMS or has it been infected somehow?
