I only use my Squeezebox to listen to various podcasts I download onto my server (the same server LMS is running on). Most of the podcasts are long format, so I frequently listen to them over the course of two or three days. The problem is for some time now, the next day, the server will not 'remember' where I paused the podcast the day before, so I have to remember where it stopped, re-select the file and fast forward to that spot again. A first-world problem to be sure, but even a small paper cut can be annoying - especially if it never heals.
Last week I uninstalled and re-installed LMS on my server (Ubuntu Linux 12.04.2 Precise Pangolin), including the silly perl workaround to get this increasingly abandonware to work, but there has been no change.
I have a cronjob on the server using hpodder to check my RSS podcast feeds and download any new ones to /media/Audio/podcasts. My LMS music folder is set to /media/Audio, as is my playlists folder.
Many months ago, I switched back to ethernet to eliminate wireless issues. I also carved out a set of static IP addresses outside my routers' DHCP range and assigned one to my Squeezebox. Neither of these actions have solved this problem.
I do have one other function running on the server that might be affecting this issue, but I don't see how. I have a cronjob set to scan my podcast folders (/media/Audio/podcasts/) and delete any files (*.mp3 only) that are older than 14 days from the current date. I do this to keep my server from drowning in old podcast files. If I miss one, I'll go and re-download it manually. I don't think this would affect the 'bookmarking' of a paused file, but I admit I have no idea where or how LMS is creating and accessing this data.
Another problem that might be related to all this is that the web interface rarely finds and displays the image icons that are downloaded with the podcasts.
